- Jagmeet Singh’s campaign was at the Lapu Lapu festival just minutes before an SUV rammed through the crowd. Singh spent more than half an hour there, mingling with people in the large crowd and making brief comments on the stage.
- I was with our pool media team filming in the location just a few minutes before it happened. The street was closed off and full of people walking around, with lots of vendors and food trucks.
- We had just arrived back at our hotel here in Burnaby when the news broke. Soon after, Singh came out and spoke with reporters travelling with the campaign. He told us he’s heartbroken. He was visibly shaken and said he was at a loss for words.
- He said the faces of the people he had met — especially the kids — kept playing in his mind. Having been there, Singh said he feels like he has a personal responsibility to do something. He told us his campaign team was going to reach out to the community.
