Kicking off the ceremony, Mindy’s The Office costar, longtime friend, and ex B.J. Novak gave a speech honoring her and her achievements.

“In addition to being a brilliant and wildly successful showrunner, an incredible mother of three, a deep and caring daughter and friend and mentor to so many, Mindy is also, in her spare time, I assure you, very superficial,” B.J. joked.

“Mindy, as I look around and see all these people from your life who have believed in you from the beginning, I’m just sorry that none of us doubted you because I know how much more fun that would make this for you,” he continued.

And as the two posed for pictures, B.J. didn’t hold back the affection, leaning over to kiss Mindy on the cheek.

Rumors about the duo’s self-described “insanely complicated relationship” have circled since they both worked on The Office. Back in 2004, they were in a relationship during their time as writers and actors on the show before officially splitting in 2007. However, their close relationship — along with the fact that Mindy refuses to disclose the identity of the father of her children — definitely hasn’t helped the rumors.
