Michelle Obama, like every famous person with a little free time on their hands, is starting a podcast. Can you guess what it will be about? A history podcast about Revolutionary War battles? A deep dive into a grifter wreaking havoc on a small town that ultimately serves as an allegory for America? Huberman-esque body-optimization advice? It’s actually just going to be an hourlong conversation with a famous person about a specific topic. There’s no need to reinvent the wheel when you’re Michelle Obama.
Announced on Monday, the podcast is called IMO — short for “in my opinion,” but you knew that already — and will be hosted by Obama and her brother, Craig Robinson. The first two episodes will be available on Wednesday. The show will feature guests like Issa Rae, Seth Rogen, Jay Shetty, and Dr. Orna Guralnik. (Did Sasha make an introduction?) Per the New York Times, which received an early listen, the format is simple: Obama, Robinson, and their celebrity guest sit down and have a chat devoted to a specific topic based on a listener question. In Rae’s episode, it’s “maintaining adult friendships.”
“With everything going on in the world, we’re all looking for answers and people to turn to,” Obama said in a statement. “My brother, Craig, and I launched the IMO podcast to create a space for people to come as they are, ask honest questions, give their opinions, and have thoughtful conversations about life.”
Sounds great! Because it’s a podcast launching in 2025, it will also be on video. So all of you who have always wanted to watch a former First Lady chat with Seth Rogen, your wish is about to come true. Watch out, Alex Cooper.
