Age is apparently just a number for Joe Flacco.
The Browns agreed to a one-year deal with the 40-year-old quarterback on Friday, the team announced. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported the deal is worth $4 million and includes up to $13 million with incentives.
Flacco, a one-time franchise quarterback who spent 11 seasons with the Ravens and won Super Bowl XLVII, went 4-1 as a starter for Cleveland in 2023.
He earned Comeback Player of the Year honors with Browns. His tenure was highlighted by the Week 17 win over the Jets on Thursday Night Football that officially clinched a playoff berth.
While in Cleveland, Flacco completed 123 of 204 passing attempts for 1,616 passing yards and 13 touchdowns.
He figures to compete with Kenny Pickett, who the Browns acquired in a trade with the Eagles on March 12, although Cleveland could also draft a quarterback at No. 2 overall.
Deshaun Watson is recovering from a re-ruptured Achilles tendon that will cause him to miss significant time of the 2025 season.
Flacco spent the 2024 season with the Colts, appearing in eight games with six starts. He completed 162 of 248 passing attempts for 1,761 passing yards and 12 touchdowns.
