City of Lawton issues precautionary evacuation notice for some residents

LAWTON, Okla. (KSWO) – The City of Lawton is issuing a precautionary evacuation notice for certain residents who live near East Cache Creek.

The evacuation notice is for those living near East Cache Creek between Rogers Lane and Lee Boulevard.

As of 10:10 a.m., Wednesday, six of Lake Lawtonka’s gates are opened at 34 inches and 12 of Lake Ellsworth’s gates are opened at 10 inches.

The neighborhoods of Turtle Creek, Garden Village and 15th Street between Cache Road and Gore Boulevard will be impacted by the gates opening.

Residents of those neighborhoods are being strongly urged to evacuate immediately.

There are some shelters open currently, including Cameron Baptist Church located at 2621 SW C Avenue and the Salvation Army located at 1314 SW E.
