Live radar: Flash flood warnings issued for Dallas, Fort Worth, Arlington, Collin County

Multiple counties in the Dallas area were issued a flash flood warning Wednesday as heavy rainfall and strong to severe storms are expected in North Texas.

According to the National Weather Service’s Fort Worth office, areas north of Dallas-Fort Worth are expected to see the most rainfall, with between 1.5 and 3 inches possible, with isolated spots of up to 5 to 6 inches of rain possible. The Weather Service’s radar shows the storm is part of a bigger overall system impacting Oklahoma and the Southern Plains region.

Dallas, Tarrant, Denton and Collin counties are under a flash flood warning until 2:15 p.m. Most of the counties along the Texas-Oklahoma border under a flood watches and warnings as well.

Roughly 13,000 Oncor customers were without power across D-FW Wednesday, according to Oncor’s outage map. That number included 1,100 in Collin County, 3,800 in Dallas County, 7,400 in Tarrant County and 1,700 in Johnson County at about 12:45 p.m..

The live radar from KXAS-TV (NBC5) shows the storm moving into D-FW at about 10:30 a.m. According to the Weather Service, the storm should move east and into Dallas by 11 a.m. at the earliest. The Weather Service said the most likely time for storms in Dallas is between noon and 5 p.m.

NBC5’s weather forecast said rain chances will increase sharply by 9 a.m., with a jump from a 20% chance of rain to 96%. A 98% chance of rain is predicted at 10 a.m., while 11 a.m. and noon carry a 100% chance of rain.

Both Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport and Dallas Love Field were issued a ground stop due to the weather.

The rain chances will persist through the afternoon and evening before petering out around 10 p.m., according to NBC5.
