Wesley Sneijder believes that coach Erik ten Hag no longer has a voice in the dressing room like before, after he challenged Cristiano Ronaldo.

Portuguese superstar Ronaldo caused controversy in 2022 when he had a shocking interview with Piers Morgan. In it, he criticized famous figures from Man United’s past and present. The Red Devils had no other choice but to terminate his contract.

Coach Ten Hag is one of the main characters in Ronaldo’s story. He decided to remove Ronaldo from the main squad and questioned his value to the team’s overall goals. However, the Dutch coach encountered difficulties after pushing CR7 out of Old Trafford.

Currently, Ten Hag’s future at Man Utd is still very unclear. Former Ajax and Real Madrid star Wesley Sneijder commented on his compatriot and why the coach’s ‘hot seat’ became shaky: “He made a mistake when facing Ronaldo. He lost all respect there. People in the dressing room will think: ‘Is he losing his mind?’”

Sneijder also shared about the possibility that coach Ten Hag will be fired, when the ‘Red Devils’ cannot win the right to participate in the Champions League: “Of course he knew that he had to leave. But he won’t leave on his own. If I were him, I would sit there comfortably until I was fired.”

Coach Ten Hag brought Man United the Carabao Cup title last season and has led them to two consecutive FA Cup finals – where they will once again face Manchester City.

Meanwhile, Ronaldo is currently playing for Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League. At the age of 39, he is still in top form and just scored a double to help Al Nassr defeat Al Khaleej 3-1 in the King Cup semi-final on the evening of May 1.
