WASHINGTON (7News) — Thanksgiving weekend is a time for family, food, and football.
While some shoppers reveled in Black Friday, the playoffs continued across the region.

Battle of Prince George’s County
Wise has been a football power in Prince George’s County, winning five state championships in the last 10 years, including last year’s title. Standing in their way of a repeat is their county rival Charles H. Flowers. In a matchup that has come to be known as the “Prince George’s County Championship,” Wise jumped out ahead early following two touchdowns by Temple University commit, DeCarlos Young. Later, history was made for the Pumas as quarterback Eric Wedge III connected with Peyton Nelson for a touchdown. Nelson now stands as the program’s single-season reception leader. Wise advances winning 35-0 and will play Championship Friday at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium.
Familiar Face heading to Annapolis
Quince Orchard is no stranger to playing on championship weekend in Maryland. The Cougars looking to return after missing out on last year’s final weekend. Standing in their way is Broadneck, who were the state runners-up last season. Quince Orchard showed they were a team to be reckoned with. University of Maryland commit Iverson Howard put the Cougars ahead on the team’s opening drive scoring the game’s opening touchdown. Howard had three touchdowns on the day. Meanwhile, the play of the game came with seconds left in the first half, quarterback Travon Jackson connecting with Aydan West, who evades three defenders en route to a 37-yard touchdown. Quince Orchard wins 48-13 and advances to play on Championship Friday at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium.
Magical run ends in Bristow
After ending the season with a 2-game slump, Patriot still found themselves in the playoffs with something to prove. The Pioneers didn’t have far to travel on their playoff road, with a first game matchup with rival Gainesville. After a 19-14 win, Patriot traveled to another rival battlefield and snuck past the Bobcats 10-9 with help from a Buddy Noakes kickoff return aiding in the win. This sets them up to host their first regional final at the Bristow school. Colonial Forge brought their magic, taking out the second seed North Stafford in the regional semifinal. The Eagles continued to roll today against Patriot. Forge quarterback Brock Brimhall had complete command of the Eagles’ offense, throwing for four touchdowns and adding a rushing touchdown on the afternoon. Wide receivers TaySean Jones and Darion Majeed each with two receiving touchdowns, Colonial Forge won the B Region title 42-14 and will play the winner of Oscar C. Smith and Highland Springs.
