Bayern Munich captain and German national team goalkeeper Manuel Neuer knows a thing or two about excellent defensive performances.
After Germany’s hard-fought 2-0 victory over Denmark, Neuer had a lot of praise to heap on to Borussia Dortmund center-back Nico Schlotterbeck.
“The secret MVP was Schlotti, he was also celebrated, he played here at home in Dortmund. To come in there for Jona [Tah] and play like that — compliments to him,” Neuer told Abendzeitung’s Maximilian Koch (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
Schlotterbeck was, indeed, a menace for the Danes to deal with. In teaming with Real Madrid’s Antonio Rüdiger, Schlotterbeck helped provide a lockdown presence in front of Neuer.
Will he retain his starting role for the next round?
