You can’t buy liquor on Christmas in West Virginia

The West Virginia Alcohol Beverage Control (WVABC) wants to remind shoppers that you won’t be able to purchase alcohol on Christmas in the Mountain State.

State law prohibits retail liquor outlets from selling liquor on Christmas Day.

This restriction does not apply to businesses such as restaurants that sell liquor, wine, and beer for on-premises consumption.

The WVABC would like to encourage everyone to not drink and drive, heed prescription medication warning labels for alcohol consumption, and remember drinking too much may lead to alcohol poisoning, falls, and fires.

WVABC Commissioner Fred Wooton said, “We at the WVABC wish all West Virginians a safe and enjoyable holiday season.”
