Apple TV+ is going Bananas for two big-name stars: Oscar Isaac and Ana de Armas are set to headline a new drama series titled Bananas for the streamer, our sister site Deadline reports.
The series will be written and executive-produced by Carolina Paiz (Orange Is the New Black), with Oscar nominee David O. Russell (Silver Linings Playbook, American Hustle) set to direct. We’ll have to wait to find out who Isaac and de Armas are playing, though: The show’s premise is being kept under wraps, along with any plot or character details.
Isaac is best known for his film work, including playing Poe Dameron in the recent Star Wars sequel trilogy, but he has ventured onto the small screen lately for several prominent roles. He won a Golden Globe for playing mayor Nick Wasicsko in HBO’s Show Me a Hero and starred opposite Jessica Chastain in HBO’s adaptation of Scenes From a Marriage. He also played the title role in Disney+’s Marvel superhero series Moon Knight, which aired in 2022.
de Armas first broke out as the hologram Joi in Blade Runner 2049 and then led the ensemble cast of Rian Johnson’s murder mystery Knives Out, earning a Golden Globe nod for her work as nurse Marta. She co-starred in the most recent James Bond movie, No Time to Die, and was nominated for an Oscar for playing Marilyn Monroe in 2022’s Blonde. This project marks her first English-language television series role.
