22-Year-Old Tourist Gored to Death by Elephant at Sanctuary

A 22-year-old tourist was killed by an elephant in southern Thailand after bathing the animal at a sanctuary, officials said. The 22-year-old Spanish student, Blanca Ojanguren García, was traveling with her boyfriend to Yao Yai when she was killed on Friday. García, originally from Valladolid, was washing the elephant at the Koh Yao Elephant Care Center when she was gored to death in front of her boyfriend, police said. Experts told local reporters that the elephant was likely panicked over the visitors at the sanctuary, according to The Independent. Elephant bathing is popular among tourists who visit the country. Spain’s foreign ministry and Bangkok embassy released a statement confirming the death of García. “The Spanish consulate in Bangkok is in contact with the victim’s relatives and offering all the necessary consular assistance, as is normal in these types of circumstances,” the statement read. According to the outlet, García was a student at the University of Navarra in Spain, but was living in Taiwan. Less than a month ago, a 49-year-old woman was killed by an elephant attack at Phu Kradueng National Park in Thailand.

Though the couple haven’t confirmed their engagement, Zendaya seemed to allude to it at the Golden Globes. “As Zendaya exited the ballroom, a recently engaged [Los Angeles] Times reporter held up her left ring finger and pointed at it,” reporter Amy Kaufman wrote in her coverage of the night. “The actor responded by flashing her own bling on her left hand, doing a sort of jazz-fingers motions. ‘Are you engaged?’ the Times asked. She kept showing her ring, smiled coyly and shrugged her shoulders mysteriously.” The couple began dating in 2021 after appearing in the Spiderman franchise together.

The art of making this deal just got a bit harder. King Frederik of Denmark has changed the royal coat of arms to emphasize a symbol of Greenland, in a perceived rebuke to Donald Trump who has said he wants to buy the Danish-owned territory. The royal household said the change “strengthens the prominence of the commonwealth.” It’s not just Donald Trump the king might be telegraphing but also Greenland’s Prime Minister, Múte Egede, who recently called for the semi-autonomous region’s independence. Royal expert Lars Hovbakke Sørensen told The Guardian, “It is important to signal… Greenland and the Faroe Islands are part of the Danish realm, and that this is not up for discussion.”

President Joe Biden angrily snapped at reporters when asked a question about his age Sunday following a White House event to celebrate the signing of the Social Security Fairness Act into law. “My being the oldest president, I know more world leaders than any one of you ever met in your whole goddamn life,” Biden said. This is not the first time the president has snapped at reporters, with a November 2024 incident seeing the president tell a reporter “Do you think you can keep from getting hit in the head by a camera behind you?” after being asked whether or not he could reach a hostage deal between Israel and Hamas by the end of his term. The president also reportedly became agitated when asked about his past comments about his successor, President-elect Donald Trump, being a potential “threat” to democracy. “I think what he did was a genuine threat to democracy,” Biden said.

‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ Star’s Ex-Husband Pays Tribute After Death at 32

The ex-husband of The Vivienne, the first-ever winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK, said his “heart is shattered” following the star’s death at the age of 32. “My heart literally sank when I got the call,” Daniel Ludford wrote on Instagram. “This man changed my life so much from the day we first met in August 2017 in Gran Canaria!! We literally clicked straight away and we knew we was going to be together for along time!!” Ludford added that the couple were together for six years and divorced last year. “You will always always have a place in my heart,” he said. Along with appearing on two seasons of Drag Race, The Vivienne, whose real name is James Lee Williams, competed on the British show Dancing on Ice and was the Wicked Witch of the West in the West End production of Wicked. The performer’s death was announced Sunday by their manager. No cause has been released.

Jon Stewart offered his thoughts on Nikki Glaser’s opening remarks Sunday night, taking to X to share that he thinks the roast comedian is “very, very good at this.” Glaser took on some of the biggest names in the crowd during this year’s Globes, even drawing laughs from the audience with a couple Diddy jokes. She earned a pat on the back from Stewart, who hosted the Oscars twice in 2006 and 2008, and declared it “the worst” job he’s ever had—but he seems to think Glaser was handling her hosting gig with excellent flair. In 2014, he told Seth Macfarlane on The Daily Show that “I [hosted the second time] because they thought, like in golf, ‘Boy that first shot sucked, do you want to hit again?’” That second time didn’t go so well either, as the show received some of its lowest ratings ever in 2008. Glaser, on the other hand, is racking up rave reviews.

Princess Lilibet has been going through a “princess phase,” according to the chef Adrian Lipscombe, who is an acquaintance of her mom, Meghan Markle. Lipscombe made the comments on Instagram while defending Meghan’s new show, With Love, Meghan, after an Eater article criticized the series before it has been released. Recalling meeting Meghan, she wrote: “We talked about our families (mostly about our daughters being in their princess phase and the movies they love) and, of course, about food.” Lipscombe called on Eater to retract the piece, saying: “Let’s talk about the bigger picture here—where are the Black female-led shows and roles in the food world? ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ Star The Vivienne Dead at 32

British drag queen The Vivienne has died, their manager Simon Jones confirmed in an Instagram post on Sunday. The performer was 32. “Their talent was immense and the light they brought to every room was astonishing,“ Jones wrote. ”No one has ever made me laugh in my life as much as Viv did. Their comedic genius and quick wit was like no other.” The Vivienne, whose real name was James Lee Williams, was the first winner of RuPaul‘s Drag Race UK and appeared in the seventh season of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars in 2022. She was the first drag contestant on the U.K. series Dancing on Ice, placing third in its 15th season, and she appeared as the Wicked Witch of the West in the West End production of The Wizard of Oz. “It’s tragic that their career was only just beginning,” Jones wrote. “In musical theatre Viv had found a space and career they loved, excelled and thrived in. I am heartbroken and devastated at this news. RIP my wonderful friend. You left us way too soon.”

Texas rapper 2 Low accidentally fired a gun in his pocket while appearing on a podcast episode, narrowly avoiding shooting himself in the leg. Joining Mike D for the Season 2 premiere of his podcast One on One W/ Mike D, 2 Low was discussing his career and plans for the future when he stuck his hand into the front pocket of jeans, prompting a gunshot to suddenly ring out. “Who shot who?” Mike D swiftly asked while appearing to look shocked. “Somebody got shot?” The rapper could then be seen taking out what appeared to be a part of a gun from his pocket before sliding it back in. The crew off-camera could be heard exclaiming, “Ah, what the f—!” with 2 low asking if everyone “was good.” Fortunately, no injuries were reported. The rapper later wrote on Instagram per the New York Post, “U said u was starting season 2 off wit da Big guns. Da main thang we all safe negativity sells n get dem talking so run it up fam.”
