Mandy Moore and her family were among the many who had to evacuate their home late Tuesday night as the catastrophic Eaton Fire ravaged the Pasadena and Altadena areas.
“Evacuated and safe with kids, dog and cats,” she wrote on her Instagram Stories.
The “This Is Us” actress, her husband musician Taylor Goldsmith and their three children sought refuge at a friend’s house. Moore said she tried to “shield the kids from the immense sadness and worry” she has been feeling.
“Praying for everyone in our beautiful city. So gutted for the destruction and loss,” she wrote in another Instagram Stories slide. She also was unsure if her home was still standing.
Hours later, she posted heartbreaking videos showing the destruction in Altadena.
“I love you, Altadena. Grateful for my family and pets getting out last night before it was too late (and endless gratitude to friends for taking us in and bringing us clothes and blankets). Honestly, I’m in shock and feeling numb for all so many have lost, including my family,” she wrote. “My children’s school is gone. Our favorite restaurants leveled. So many friends and loved ones have lost everything too. Our community is broken but we will be here to rebuild together. Sending love to all affected and on the front lines trying to get this under control.”
Moore is one of many celebrities who evacuated amid the wildfires burning parts of Southern California. In Pacific Palisades, Jamie Lee Curtis, Mark Hamill and more were forced to evacuate their homes. The fire destroyed the home of “The Hills” reality stars Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag.
The Eaton Fire was first reported Tuesday night near Altadena Drive and Midwick Drive as hurricane-force Santa Ana winds whipped through the region. It grew to over 10,600 acres on Wednesday afternoon. Officials confirmed five people have died in the fire.
