Kenneth Fire threatens western San Fernando Valley, prompting evacuations

The Kenneth Fire broke out at about 2:40 p.m. along the western edge of the San Fernando Valley, quickly growing to more than 50 acres and prompting mandatory evacuations.

The fire is located in the Upper Las Virgenes Canyon Open Space Preserve and is pushing toward dense developments in the cities of Calabasas and Agoura. Oak Park and Thousand Oaks are potentially in play as well.

Evacuation orders and warnings have been issued for residents in L.A. City and County, and Ventura County.
