- Melania Trump celebrated her first Mother’s Day in the US on May 14, 2006, with her otrok, Barron, the Slovenian word for “baby.”
- Like his mother, Barron Trump can speak Slovenian and English.
- Unlike his father and siblings, Donald Trump Jr., Ivanka Trump, Eric Trump and Tiffany Trump, Barron chose NYU for college.
Donald and Melania Trump will call the White House home a second time in our nation’s history. Likely, so will their only child, Barron Trump.
On Inauguration Day, Jan. 20, 2025, the former president will officially begin his second term in office, four years after leaving 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. in Washington, D.C. This coincides with spring 2025 classes start at New York University, where Barron Trump attends school, and it’s five days before his parents celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary.
After the 18-year-old Barron Trump received his high school diploma in May 2024 from Oxbridge Academy near West Palm Beach, Florida, he broke away from family tradition by applying to NYU (see below).
Barron Trump, the youngest son of former president Donald Trump and former first lady Melania Trump, is a freshman at New York University’s Stern School of Business. He started classes in September 2024 and is projected to be part of the class of 2028. Before he turned 18, he was largely kept out of the spotlight because of Melania Trump’s protective nature. He has shown interest in his father’s politics, particularly during the 2024 presidential election, though he did not make many public appearances.
Below are photos of the former president’s youngest son and things to know about Barron Trump and his famous family.
Who is Barron Trump? Who are Barron Trump’s siblings?
Barron Trump is the sole child of Donald and Melania Trump. He was born in New York on March 20, 2006. Ten years later, Donald Trump won the 2016 presidential election against Democratic challenger Hilary Clinton (interestingly, Hilary and Bill Clinton were wedding guests at the Donald Trump-Melania Knauss wedding in 2005).
During his first term as president, Donald and Melania Trump did not reside together at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave., Washington, D.C. — at least for the first few months of his presidency.
In 2017, the third Mrs. Donald Trump spent the first five months of his administration living apart from the president — she and Barron Trump remained behind in New York so he could finish school. At the time, Barron Trump was attending Columbia Grammar and Preparatory School in Manhattan.
After that, Barron Trump then attended school closer to Washington, D.C., at St. Andrew’s Episcopal School in Potomac, Maryland, about 14 miles from the White House. He and Melania Trump officially moved in that summer when Barron Trump was 11 years old.
Why do people want to know about Barron Trump?
It’s easy for Donald Trump to make headlines, and the president-elect welcomes it. Many times in 2024, Barron and Melania Trump made headlines without even meaning to. “How tall is Barron Trump?” became a Google sensation when the search engine listed Trump’s youngest son as 6-foot-9 two months after news reports estimated he was 6-foot-7.
When Barron Trump turned 18, graduated high school in West Palm Beach, Florida, and started college at New York University, the world was watching. And tweeting. And making TikToks … about all of it.
Barron Trump is bilingual. Barron Trump speaks English and Slovenian, went viral on TikTok for his pronunciation of ‘suitcase’
Barron Trump is bilingual and can speak English and Slovenian. A video of him as a boy speaking with a Slovenian accent went viral after it was reposted Aug. 15, 2024, and again in October 2024. In the video, Barron Trump says, “I like my suitcase,” emphasizing suit, then picks it up as he talks about going to school. Melania Trump agrees and is heard telling Barron Trump that first he will “have lunch” (in her Slovenian accent, “lunch” sounds like “launch”). In the clip, Barron Trump then takes advice from his father, who says he expects all A’s, no cigarettes, no alcohol and no tattoos.
When Melania Trump celebrated her first Mother’s Day in the U.S. as a new mom on May 14, 2006, following the birth of Barron Trump on March 20 of that year, she and their otrok, the Slovenian word for “baby,” spent the day with her mami and daddy, (the late) Amalia Knavs and Viktor Knavs, according to an archive interview with Donald and Melania Trump in the Palm Beach Daily News, a USA TODAY Network newspaper. In Slovenia, Mother’s Day is celebrated March 8.
Barron Trump has a Twitter account (sort of)
The youngest son of Donald and Melania Trump has largely been kept out of the spotlight, likely due to his mother. But that didn’t stop the former first lady from sharing precious moments about motherhood and more on her social network. On X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, Melania Trump tweeted several photos of Barron Trump as a little boy, often tagging him @barrontrump. However, that account on X follows only one account (hers) and has more than 25,800 followers as of Jan. 14, 2025. There is no profile photo, no cover photo, no tweets and no bio — only the social handle and the date “@barrontrump” joined the platform (August 2012, when Barron Trump was 6 years old).
Barron Trump is not on social media, but every other Trump family member is
From former president Donald Trump to his third wife (and Barron Trump’s mother) Melania Trump, to his adult children and their significant others — Donald Trump Jr., Ivanka Trump, Eric Trump and Tiffany Trump — each has a presence on various social media platforms. But there is no official Barron Trump account on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Twitch, Discord or YouTube.
When he was president, Donald Trump frequently used Twitter to reach the public — until he was removed from the social platform following his role in the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection at the U.S. Capitol. He later introduced his social media platform Truth Social, then was reinstated on Twitter (now renamed X) when Elon Musk bought the company.
There are several photos and references to Barron Trump on his family’s social media accounts, from birthday wishes to #TBT and #FBF (social media speak for “throwback Thursday” and “flashback Friday,” respectively).
How tall is Barron Trump?
When people Google “Barron Trump’s height,” search results show he is now 6 feet, 9 inches tall. But during the 18-year-old’s graduation in May 2024 from Oxbridge Academy in suburban West Palm Beach, he was 6-foot, 7-inches tall, according to multiple reports.
While most men stop growing at 18, after puberty, some may continue to grow into their early 20s.
Even at 6-foot-7, Barron Trump was the tallest of the Trump siblings, and rises above his father, who is listed as 6 feet 3 inches, although some reports say he’s actually 6-foot-2. His mother, former model Melania Trump, is 5-foot-11. Among his half-brothers, Eric Trump is 6-5, and Donald Trump Jr. is 6-1.
Barron Trump seemed to be as tall if not taller than his mother, Melania Trump, by 2017, when he was 11 years old. Some photos in 2017 and 2018 show the pair walking side by side, almost eye to eye, and she in high heels.
Photos of Donald Trump’s youngest child show him to be as tall if not taller than his father by 2018.
Barron Trump’s height is a hot topic. Height is a big deal for this other celebrity kid
Barron Trump’s not the only celebrity child with headlines about height: Blue Ivy Carter, daughter of Beyonce and rapper Jay-Z Carter, sparked media chatter in February 2024 when she appeared at the Grammy Awards and stood alongside her famous parents. Dad Jay-Z is reportedly 6-foot, 2-inches tall. Blue Ivy Carter just turned 13 years old on Jan. 7, 2025.
Barron Trump played a lot of sports as a kid
In the past, the former president’s son has played golf at his father’s famous golf courses, soccer, baseball and basketball.
When he was a child, Barron Trump played team sports and had a supportive cheerleader in his mom, Melania Trump. She often tweeted photos of a young Barron Trump in a uniform or hitting the links with his father at various Trump golf clubs.
It’s not clear if Barron Trump played any varsity sports at Oxbridge Academy as he wasn’t listed on any rosters, but he loves soccer, according to his father and various reports. According to Bleacher Report, when Barron Trump was 11 in 2017, he played for the D.C. United U-12 soccer team. He was a midfielder wearing No. 81. D.C. United is part of Major League Soccer.
Is Barron Trump close to his siblings, Donald Trump Jr., Eric Trump, Ivanka Trump and Tiffany Trump?
Though there is an age difference, Barron Trump seems close to his half-siblings. Over the years, Donald Trump’s children have been active in his presidency and campaigns.
- Donald Trump Jr., born to Donald Trump and his first wife Ivana Trump, is 28 years older than Barron Trump.
- Ivanka Trump, born to Donald and Ivana Trump, is 24 years older than Barron Trump.
- Eric Trump, born to Donald and Ivana Trump, is 22 years older than Barron Trump.
- Tiffany Trump, born to Donald Trump and his second wife, Marla Maples, is 13 years older than Barron Trump.
After Donald Trump relocated with Melania and Barron to Palm Beach, Florida, in 2019, his adult children and their families followed suit. Tiffany Trump has posted photos and sweet messages on her Instagram account about her younger brother.
When was Donald Trump president?
Donald Trump won the 2016 presidential election, and his term in the White House was from 2017 to 2021. He lost the 2020 presidential election to President Joe Biden and returned to his private club, Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, on Jan. 20, 2021.
Trump then won the 2024 presidential election against Democratic challenger, Vice President Kamala Harris. His second term in office starts Jan. 20, 2025, or Inauguration Day.
After 2020 presidential election, Donald, Melania and Barron Trump mainly lived at Mar-a-Lago
Donald Trump’s private club, Mar-a-Lago, in Palm Beach, Florida, became known as the Winter White House or the Southern White House during the Trump administration. Though Donald Trump used his New York City address as his main residency for years, he famously made Mar-a-Lago his primary residence in 2019. Typically, Mar-a-Lago is open to members during Palm Beach’s “social season,” roughly from October through April. But the Trump family quarters are separate.
After Donald Trump lost the 2020 presidential election to President Joe Biden, Donald, Melania and Barron Trump went home to Mar-a-Lago. Barron Trump lived there until after high school graduation. On May 17, 2024, when he graduated from Oxbridge Academy in West Palm Beach, he was one of 116 seniors to receive their diploma. While a loudspeaker announced the names of the graduates, Barron Trump’s name was not announced, likely a decision to avoid any extra attention.
It was during this time that Donald Trump was in court for the hush-money case involving an adult porn star, Stormy Daniels. He also had legal troubles following the infamous documents raid at Mar-a-Lago.

As Barron Trump college choice looms, here’s where his family graduated (and who didn’t)
Barron Trump was initially selected to serve as a Florida delegate at the 2024 Republican National Convention − which would have been his first official campaign appearance for his father − but Melania Trump stated May 10 that Barron Trump would not be able to attend due to “prior commitments.”
In 2020, the entire Trump family — Melania Trump, Barron Trump, Donald Trump Jr., Eric Trump, Ivanka Trump and Tiffany Trump — attended the Republican National Convention in unity to support former President Donald Trump.
But at the 2024 RNC, when Donald Trump formally accepted the Republican nomination on July 18, Barron Trump was the only immediate Trump family member who did not attend.
A week prior, his father survived an assassination attempt at a Trump rally in Butler County, Pennsylvania.
When there was an attempted assassination attempt on Donald Trump on July 13, 2024, in Butler, Pennsylvania, the former first lady released a statement the next day to express her thoughts and concerns: “When I watched that violent bullet strike my husband, Donald, I realized my life, and Barron’s life, were on the brink of devastating change,” she wrote in a statement. “A monster who recognized my husband as an inhuman political machine attempted to ring out Donald’s passion — his laughter, ingenuity, love of music, and inspiration,” Melania Trump wrote. “The core facets of my husband’s life — his human side — were buried below the political machine. Donald, the generous and caring man who I have been with through the best of times and the worst of times.”
In September, Ryan Routh, was arrested in a plot to kill Donald Trump at the president-elect’s golf course near West Palm Beach, Florida.
After voting in Palm Beach, Florida, on Election Day, Melania and Barron Trump did attend Donald Trump’s Election Night watch party at the Palm Beach County Convention Center on Nov. 5, 2024.
Which New York university does Barron Trump attend? His 17-year-old half-niece Kai Trump chose a Florida college
Barron Trump’s half-niece, 17-year-old Kai Trump, who’s a year younger than him, made her political campaign appearance debut at the 2024 Republican National Convention. Weeks later, Kai Trump (publicly) announced her college choice: the University of Miami, not far from where she goes to high school now.
Kai Madison Trump is the oldest child of Donald Trump Jr. and former model Vanessa Kay Trump, formerly Vanessa Kay Pergolizzi. She is the oldest of Donald Trump’s 10 grandchildren and the oldest child of Donald Trump Jr.’s five children. She celebrated her 17th birthday May 12, 2024.
Sorry, UPenn and Georgetown: Barron Trump picks New York University, bucks Trump family tradition
When Barron Trump turned 18 and graduated high school from Oxbridge Academy in West Palm Beach, Florida, the topic of where he would attend college became a popular one online.
Donald Trump often dropped hints about his youngest son’s intent for higher education without actually name-dropping the university. The world was watching. And tweeting. And making TikToks about all of it.
Days after Labor Day 2024, Barron Trump was spotted at NYU’s campus in New York, flanked by Secret Service. His decision to choose a college in New York stood out from his family: His father graduated from business school at the University of Pennsylvania, and Barron Trump’s half-siblings — Donald Trump Jr., Ivanka Trump, Eric Trump and Tiffany Trump — each have ties to the University of Pennsylvania or Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. The youngest Trump is following much of the family in pursuing a business degree, but forging a new path in choosing the Stern School of Business, known as NYU Stern.
His parents never disclosed why he chose NYU over University of Penn or Georgetown, but the main campus is in Manhattan, where Barron Trump spent much of his childhood — and lived until his father was sworn in as the 45th president in early 2017.
Where is NYU Stern? Where does Barron Trump live in New York?
Located in Lower Manhattan, NYU Stern is in the heart of the financial capital of the world.
Just steps away from Wall Street, Stern students are likely to study with, learn alongside and bump elbows with some of the biggest names in finance, consulting and business.
NYU Stern is a relatively compact campus and part of the broader NYU campus in Manhattan.
Most students attend classes at the Henry Kaufman building. The student population tops 5,000 at NYU Stern and is nearly split between undergrad students and MBA and other programs.
Notable alumni include former Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan, Home Depot founder Kenneth Langone and Gary Cohn, who was the director of National Economic Council from 2017 to 2018 under then-president Donald Trump.
