COLLEGE PARK, Md. (7News) — Maryland’s Lady Terps came out on top against Alabama with a 111-108 win during a nailbiting double-overtime matchup on Monday, ultimately securing their spot in the Sweet 16 and creating a historic moment for the University of Maryland Basketball program.
For the first time in school history, both the Men’s and Women’s Terrapins have made it to the coveted Sweet 16 within the same year. This follows after both failed to make it last year.
Maryland men beat Colorado State on Sunday when Derik Quinn shot a buzzer-beater, bringing the score to 72-71. They will face off against the No. 1 seed Florida on March 27.
The Lady Terps will also need to dig in deep against No. 1 South Carolina, whom they lost to during their Elite Eight matchup back in 2023.
