BTS Jungkook aka Jeon Jung-kook is one of the popular K-pop stars who has been under the limelight recently after BTS ARMY pointed out how one of his songs, Standing Next To You, was plagiarized by a Vietnamese singer, Hùng Huỳnh aka Gemini. The controversy started when fans noticed a striking similarity between Jungkook’s track from his album, Golden, which was released in 2023, with the singer’s recently released track, Chẳng Thể Nhắm Mắt.
BTS Jungkook’s Next To You Plagiarized By Vietnamese Singer
Recently, social media platforms are flooded with BTS ARMY accusing the Vietnamese singer of copying Jungkook’s song, especially for having a similarity with its melody and choreography. On the other hand, Vietnamese fans of BTS Jungkook pointed out that chorus in Gemini’s song has a resemblance to Jungkook’s mentioned song.
Not only that, fans alleged that the Vietnamese singer has also copied the outfit and the moves of Jungkook in his song. Things got even more controversial, when Kewtiie, the producer of the song, shared a similar picture of Michael Jackson and wrote with a caption, “Everything comes from here, why so tense?” which made fans think that it implied that Jungkook took inspiration from Michael Jackson.
A post is shared with a caption sharing all the screenshots, “Vietnamese artist Gemini Hùng Huỳnh, managed by Nomad Company, has released an MV titled Chẳng Thể Nhắm Mắt, which blatantly plagiarizes Jungkook’s Standing Next To You. The MV copies key elements, including the concept, storyline, and parts of the melody. Shockingly, the producer, kewtiie, on Threads/Instagram, has retaliated by accusing Jungkook of plagiarism instead!”
