(CNN) – A refrigerator staple is being recalled by the Food and Drug Administration.
The agency and Cabot Creamery announced on Wednesday a voluntary recall for some of the company’s butter.
The FDA says the product tested positive for a bacterium that is often associated with fecal contamination.
The recall applies to Cabot’s 8-ounce Extra Creamy Premium Butter, Sea Salted.
The butter has a “best before” date of Sept. 9, 2025.
The product was sold in Arkansas, Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, New York, Pennsylvania and Vermont.
The FDA shared more information about the recall online.
