The Steelers were able to slow the Chiefs offense down after Kansas City scored touchdowns the first two times they had the ball, but there’s more work to do if they’re going to prevail at home on Christmas.

Russell Wilson’s one-yard touchdown run cut the Chiefs’ lead to 13-7 with 10:28 left to play in the first half, but they weren’t able to produce any more points on their final two drives of the half. That left the Chiefs up by six at the break and the Chiefs will be getting the ball to kick off the final 30 minutes of play.

Wilson had another chance to put points on the board, but he didn’t see Chiefs safety Justin Reid in the end zone and Reid picked off a pass to keep the Steelers from scoring. Wilson also lost the ball on a sack on the first Steelers possession of the afternoon, but he was able to recover the ball.

Wilson is 10-of-15 for 105 yards and Patrick Mahomes is 14-of-18 for 143 yards and touchdown passes to Xavier Worthy and Justin Watson. The Chiefs punted three times after those scores, but were driving for another scoring chance before a holding penalty on right tackle Jawaan Taylor wiped out a fourth down conversion by tight end Travis Kelce.

The Chiefs will try to recapture their early offensive momentum coming out of the break and the Steelers will need to keep that from happening in order to pull this one out.
