CAITLIN. REGINA. GOOD MORNING. WELL, 38 YEAR-OLD CODY. BOMBER OF PEMBROKE BOROUGH IS FACING AGGRAVATED ARSON, TERRORISM AND ATTEMPTED MURDER CHARGES. AND POLICE SAY THIS ALL STARTED AT AROUND 2:00 SUNDAY MORNING WHEN BOMBER ALLEGEDLY HOPPED OVER A FENCE RIGHT HERE AT THE GOVERNOR’S RESIDENCE AND ALERTED STATE POLICE. I WANT YOU TO TAKE A LOOK AT YOUR SCREEN NOW. THESE ARE NEW PHOTOS WE HAVE OF THE DAMAGE LEFT BEHIND FROM THE ATTACK. THE DAUPHIN COUNTY DA’S OFFICE SAYS AFTER GETTING OVER A FENCE, BOMBER APPROACHED ONE OF THE WINDOWS ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF THE RESIDENCE USING A HAMMER HE HAD BROUGHT. HE QUICKLY BROKE THE WINDOW AFTER MULTIPLE BLOWS AND ACCORDING TO THE POLICE AFFIDAVIT, BOMBER THEN THREW A BROKEN HEINEKEN BOTTLES FILLED WITH GASOLINE, STARTING FIRES. AT ONE POINT, THE DA’S OFFICE SAYS BOMBER ACTUALLY ENTERED THE RESIDENCE AFTER BREAKING ANOTHER WINDOW AND STARTED FIRES IN THE PIANO AND DINING ROOMS. NOW HE WAS LATER ARRESTED. DOCUMENTS SHOW BOMBERS EX PARAMOUR CALLED POLICE TO TURN HIM IN AFTER HE ASKED HER TO. THE AFFIDAVIT SHOWS THAT BOMBER MET WITH STATE POLICE AT THE DEPARTMENT’S HEADQUARTERS ON ELMERTON AVENUE, AND ADMITTED TO BEING RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ATTACK. IN AN INTERVIEW, HE SAID HE HATED SHAPIRO AND WOULD HAVE ATTACKED THE GOVERNOR WITH A SLEDGEHAMMER IF HE HAD SEEN HIM. SHAPIRO AND HIS FAMILY WERE NOT HURT. THE GOVERNOR SAID STATE POLICE HELPED HIM AND HIS FAMILY EVACUATE. THEY’RE DOING OKAY NOW. THEY’RE ALL TOGETHER. AND AS I SAID SHORTLY HERE, WE’RE GOING TO CELEBRATE OUR SECOND SEDER TOGETHER. WE’RE GOING TO HAVE MORE FAMILY TIME. AND I TRUST THAT LAURA AND I WILL MAKE SURE OUR KIDS GET THROUGH THIS WELL AND LISTEN TO THEM AND BE THERE FOR THEIR EMOTIONAL NEEDS, BE THERE FOR THEIR MENTAL HEALTH, SUPPORT OUR MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORT, AND MAKING SURE THAT EVERYBODY IS IS ABLE TO GET THROUGH THIS AND CONTINUE ON WITH OUR LIVES. Cody Balmer, the suspect in an arson attack at the Pennsylvania governor’s mansion, is being hospitalized for what is being described as a “medical event,” according to Pennsylvania State Police. State police released a statement Monday morning saying Balmer, 38, was transported to an area hospital where he is receiving treatment. Police said the hospitalization was not connected to the alleged arson or his arrest. Full statement”The suspect in the arson that occurred at the Governor’s Residence on 04/13/25 has been identified as Cody A. Balmer, 03/23/1987, of Harrisburg, PA. He was taken into custody without incident and charged through Magisterial District Court 12-1-02, Harrisburg. Due to a medical event not connected to this incident or his arrest, Balmer was transported to an area hospital where he is currently receiving treatment.
