On Thursday night the Bowling Green Falcons faced off against the Arkansas State Red Wolves in the 68 Ventures Bowl as both teams looked to end their season with an 8th win.
During the contest, Falcons star tight end Harold Fannin Jr broke the college football record for most receiving yards by a tight end in a season, passing Jace Amaro. While one FBS record would have been plenty for most players, Fannin added to the historic season with another.
After racked up 17 receptions for 213 yards and a touchdown, Fannin set the record for more receptions in a singe season with 112.
“One FBS Record is nice, but how about two?!?! With that catch, Harold Fannin Jr. is the new FBS Record Holder for receptions in a single-season by a tight end with 112!” the team said in a message on social media.
ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr has Fannin ranked a the top h-back in the upcoming NFL draft, but the star tight end didn’t take credit for his success.
“I feel like I can’t take all the credit because the coaches obviously have been putting me in the right positions and I have trust in my teammates,” he said, via Bowling Green.
“I’m a team player and I wanted to be a jack-of-all-trades, in a way,” Fannin added. “I’m a competitor, and tight end is a competitive position. I obviously had things I needed to work at, but I’d say I developed well here. I came here and got way bigger, got stronger, and learned how to prepare, play football the right way.”
Bowling Green fell to Arkansas State by a final score of 38-31.
