DEARBORN HEIGHTS, Mich. – A Detroit Lions player was arrested on suspicion of driving drunk this weekend, and then waived by the team.
Safety Brandon Joseph was pulled over for speeding early Saturday morning, according to Dearborn Heights police Director Paul Vanderplow.
That traffic stop resulted in Joseph being arrested on suspicion for operating under the influence, according to officials.
Police are still awaiting the results of a blood draw before making a decision on charges.
They said Joseph was cooperative throughout the process.
Joseph was waived by the Lions on Saturday afternoon in a flurry of moves before Sunday afternoon’s game at the Chicago Bears. Those moves were announced at 4:07 p.m. Saturday.
Joseph, 23, has appeared in all 14 games for the Lions this season and has 13 tackles and 11 solo tackles.
He was signed by the team as an undrafted free agent on May 6, 2023.
