Dustin Poirier’s stunned reaction to Paddy Pimblett’s UFC 314 win caught on camera

One of the biggest stars on the roster continued to climb up the lightweight ladder in Miami.

Paddy Pimblett has title aspirations on his mind after producing his seventh consecutive win inside the Octagon on April 12.

In the biggest fight of his career to date, Pimblett dominated and finished former title challenger Michael Chandler to book his spot in the division’s top 10.

‘The Baddy’ is now seemingly just one more win away from getting his first shot at UFC gold meaning that whatever is next for him, it’s going to be huge.

Pimblett addressed his potential opponents in his post-fight interview with former interim champion Dustin Poirier being among the names.

A fight between Paddy Pimblett and Dustin Poirier seems somewhat unlikely based on previous comments from ‘The Diamond’.

The 36-year-old is planning one last dance before retiring with his stipulation of legends only disqualifying ‘The Baddy’ as a potential opponent with fans still waiting to find out who he will be matched up with.

It was announced on fight week that Poirier would be in attendance for UFC 314 to work as an analyst where his thoughts on the co-main event were particularly interesting due to the fact that he has faced Michael Chandler in the past.

He believed that his former foe would be too much for the controversial rising star given his high-level experience and one-punch knockout power, an opinion that wasn’t uncommon.

A lot of people were therefore surprised to see Pimblett not only win but dominate the contest even if Chandler is towards the end of his career at this point.

Video footage of Poirier’s reaction to the ending of the fight shows that he was one of many who didn’t expect the matchup to play out in such one-sided fashion.

He didn’t say anything in the immediate aftermath but the lack of words and a slight shaking of the head said it all for him before the post-fight show got underway following the main event.

There will be questions about Michael Chandler’s ability to compete at the highest level of the sport at this point in his career but there’s no denying that Paddy Pimblett looked impressive on April 12.

He has clearly improved significantly over the past few years with Chandler’s experience, power and wrestling ability not testing the scouser all that much.

It wasn’t just Dustin Poirier who seemingly couldn’t believe what he was seeing after Pimblett reigned down ground and pound to get the third round stoppage.

‘The Baddy’ has been a star ever since he debuted inside the Octagon but UFC 314 was the night that he truly arrived.
