PASADENA, Calif. (KTLA) – The 10,000-acre Eaton Fire swept through communities in Pasadena Wednesday morning after torching an unknown number of homes in neighboring Altadena in the San Gabriel Valley.
KTLA 5 News reporter Chip Yost was on live television as homes on Glen Avenue near Montana Street went up in flames. Some were fully engulfed while fire crews desperately worked to extinguish flames with limited water pressure.
“One of the issues they’ve been having … is the lack of water,” Yost said. “They’re relying on water from the hydrants, which are not designed to use this much water hours and hours at a time.”

The Eaton Fire erupted Tuesday evening as hurricane-force Santa Ana winds swept through Southern California. The cause remained under investigation. Two people were confirmed dead in the blaze, officials revealed at a news conference Wednesday morning.
Roughly 30 miles west of Pasadena, the Palisades Fire destroyed an estimated 1,000 structures, many of them homes, in Los Angeles’ affluent Pacific Palisades neighborhood.
