Ellen Pompeo graced the Good American Family screening held at BAFTA in London today, and I have to admit—I’m at a loss for words.
The Grey’s Anatomy star, known for her effortless style and understated elegance, took a sharp detour into statement territory, wearing a sand hued faux fur Prada Kidassia jacket. Accented with a black velvet ribbon-edged collar and a bow appliqué, this piece looked perfectly editorial on the model. But on the red carpet? That’s where things got a little… confusing.
My biggest issue? The full head-to-toe sand styling. The model wore the jacket with black trousers, which gave the look much-needed contrast. But Ellen’s matching trousers made the ensemble feel overly one-note: especially when the outfit is almost the same colour as her hair.
It’s giving guest appearance on Sesame Street—just without the whimsy.
Now, if this had been a street style moment—paired with sleek black trousers, and killer boots—it could have been a different story. But as a red carpet look, it’s hard to see the vision. Ellen as a fashion risk-taker? I love that for her. But this particular risk? I just didn’t work.
