Ex-Pro Bowler Makes Drake Maye Predictions After Patriots Add Stefon Diggs

The Patriots reportedly made a big move Tuesday night, and there might not have been anyone more excited about it than Drake Maye.

New England, according to multiple reports, agreed to contract terms with Stefon Diggs, who is set to sign a three-year, $69 million deal with $26 million guaranteed. The reported agreement came together mere days after Diggs took a two-day trip to Foxboro, Mass., for his only known free agency visit of the offseason.

Diggs, although he tore his ACL last October, figures to make the Patriots a much better football team going forward. And nobody stands to benefit more than Maye, who three-time Pro Bowl selection Taylor Lewan believes is bound for big things in 2025.

“Drake Maye is gonna have a massive year,” Lewan posted to X a few hours after ESPN’s Adam Schefter broke the news about Diggs landing in New England.

Lewan wasn’t going too far out on a limb with that prediction. Maye, a Pro Bowler as a rookie, already was poised to improve as a sophomore thanks to an improved coaching staff and a full offseason/preseason as the Patriots’ unquestioned starting quarterback. And now, with a stat sheet-stuffer like Diggs in his arsenal, expectations for Maye will be even higher.

Those projections very well could increase as the offseason rolls on, too, as New England can and should improve its offseason through the draft and/or free agency moves/trades.
