Top 30 is finalized for 2025 FedEx Cup Playoffs at East Lake

Ludvig Aberg made the final stroke that decided the top 30 in the FedEx Cup Playoffs standings. It was a two-inch tap putt for a double-bogey 6 on the 18th hole. With that, all the points were calculated and confirmed and that put Akshay Bhatia into the 30th and final spot for the final playoff event. Had Aberg triple bogeyed the final hole, Bhatia would have been bumped to 31st and Michael Kim would’ve landed in the 30th spot.

Michael Kim bumped out of top 30 after a Viktor Hovland putt

Hovland, who won the 2023 Tour Championship, made a birdie putt on the 18th hole for a 69, his fourth straight round in the 60s this week. It put him into a tie for eighth and it moved him from 28th to 23rd in the FedEx Cup projected standings.

But it also damaged Michael Kim’s Tour Championship hopes, knocking him to the first-spot-out at No. 31.

Kim later had some fun with that on X.

Chris Gotterup driving to parents house to await standings

Gotterup, aiming for his first Tour Championship appearance, finished his final round a couple of hours ago and now with the leaders on the 15th hole and about an hour left of golf to take place, he finds himself in the 29th spot in the projected standings. Apparently he didn’t want to wait around at Caves Valley to see if he would make the final event, so he decided he’d drive his parents house and find out the official standings later, according to NBC.

Rickie Fowler flirting with trouble on the back nine

Fowler bogeyed the 12th, birdied the 13th and bogeyed the 14th, making his projected standing precarious. But he made things worse on the par-4 15th hole after sailing the green and going into the trees and then needing a drop. He then faced a 35-foot putt for bogey and missed that so he took a double bogey 6. That horror show dropped him to 33rd in the standings.

Harry Halls climbs into 30th spot in FedEx Cup standings

Hall, viewed by many as a viable Ryder Cup pick by European team captain Luke Donald, started the BMW week No. 45 but at 3:44 p.m. ET, Hall was in the 30th and final spot for East Lake.

Rickie Fowler, meanwhile, keeps torching Caves Valley and is at 10 under and in solo fourth. That pace has vaulted him to No. 25 in the projected standings.
