It didn’t happen as many expected on signing day, but another Florida Gator is soon to be in.
One of Billy Napier’s top overall targets in Tampa Bay (Fla.) Tech wide receiver Dallas Wilson is expected to play for UF after asking out of the financial aid agreement he originally signed to Oregon on December 4, per Rivals sources around the No. 1 program.
The longtime Duck pledge, who had been on board for nearly two years before the change of heart, frequented Gainesville as a recruit. The initial flip momentum really ramped up once he took back to back visits to The Swamp in November. The second would be for an official visit, where UF appeared to have closed the gap on the Ducks for good.
“They made a big move,” Wilson told Rivals of Florida after taking in the win over LSU.
Wilson rounds out an elite wide receiver haul for Billy Napier and company, joining legacy recruit Vernell Brown III, speedy south Floridian Naeshaun Montgomery and the towering Muizz Tounkara to form one of America’s top wide receiver hauls.
One of the most physically gifted pass-catchers in the class of 2025, Wilson is built like a classic X — or wide receiver 1 — at 6-foot-3, 200 pounds or so. But don’t let the size fool, he is primarily a big-play threat on the outside. He has several samples of taking the top off of the defense with speed, but there is also a physicality he plays with once the football is in his hands.
Wilson can win at the catch point with his frame and game alike, and he isn’t afraid to let a defensive back know about a win of his as they pile up. He has that edge about him that college coaches covet at any position, making for a potential Alpha type should things break the right way for him in Gainesville.
There is room to polish up and work with more overall consistency, especially as a route runner, but Wilson is the type of natural talent a modern staff finds a way to get on the field early on in their transition to college ball. This is a major score for the present and future of Billy Gonzalez’s wide receiver room.
