Free burgers await! George Webb will revive iconic giveaway after Brewers win 12 in a row

(WLUK) — A Wisconsin restaurant chain will soon be handing out tens of thousands of free hamburgers to hungry Milwaukee Brewers fans.

That’s because on Wednesday, the Brew Crew captured their 12th straight victory with a 12-5 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates — fulfilling George Webb’s prophecy and triggering his namesake restaurant to give away burgers.

George Webb is a Milwaukee-based diner chain whose sole location in Northeast Wisconsin in Peshtigo. Its restaurants have provided free hamburgers each time the Brewers have won a dozen consecutive games.

“Phones have been blowing, yeah. They’ve been going crazy,” Cassandra Hollar, manager of the Peshtigo location, told FOX 11. “History has been in the making and the Brewers fans are pretty excited to see them keep going.”

Fans are excited for not only the hamburgers, but the way things are looking for the Brew Crew.

“My friends and I have been having Brewers fever, and we’re just super into it. So we’re excited to have some tasty burgers but also celebrate our team. It’s really awesome,” Brewers fan Wyatt Young said.

The burger giveaway has only happened twice before — first in 1987 and then in 2018.

Late last month, the Brewers had a chance to set in motion the beloved burger giveaway, but their winning streak ended at 11.

It appears second time is the charm!

According to George Webb’s social media, the special burger giveaway date will be announced Thursday.
