LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Nebraska volleyball brought the Dayton Flyers back to the ground on Friday night, beating them in four sets in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA tournament.
The Huskers won 25-17, 25-18, 25-27, 25-13 at the Bob Devaney Center.
Top-seeded Nebraska recorded seven aces while outhitting No. 5 seed Dayton .216% to .087%.
NU fell behind early and trailed the Flyers for most of the first set.
The Huskers took their first lead at 14-13 and then went on 4-0 and 6-0 scoring runs to pull away.
The second set was a tit-for-tat affair until Nebraska scored five straight points.
It came down to the wire in the third set, with Dayton winning on a Husker attack error.
The Huskers dominated the fourth set, leading by 13 at one point.
Harper Murray led the way for Nebraska with a career-high 22 kills, and Rebekah Allick added 10. Murray also made four aces.
Lexi Rodriguez led in digs, with 22.
Nebraska will face No. 2 seed Wisconsin on Sunday in the Elite Eight.
That match starts at 2 p.m. and will be broadcast on Channel 8.
