Here’s when Capital One says banking outage should be fixed

Capital One is responding to customers taking to social media to voice frustrations about an outage for its banking customers on Thursday, January 16. Users first began reporting issues with Capital One online services around 4 a.m., according to Down Detector.

The financial giant acknowledged the outage around 11: 15 a.m., and said around 4 p.m. the company expects services “to gradually begin to return to normal throughout today and the majority of issues to be resolved by tomorrow morning.”

“We are actively working with the vendor to resolve the issue and restore services, and apologize for the inconvenience,” the Capital One customer service team said on X. 

Capital One has responded to numerous customers in the replies of posts on X providing additional information. 

The company said it is “experiencing a technical issue with a third-party vendor that is temporarily impacting some account services, deposits, and payment processing for portions of our consumer, small business, and commercial bank.” 

Customer service also noted in one reply the company “will care for all reasonable fees incurred as a result of this incident once our services are restored.”
