High-Profile NFL Draft Prospect Makes College Football History Monday Night

With no major football games on Monday night except one, the college football world got a glimpse of a potential NFL draft pick at the quarterback position when the North Dakota State Bison took on the Montana State Bobcats in the FCS National Championship.

In a thrilling game, the Bison knocked off the previously undefeated Bobcats 35-32 to claim their fifth championship in eight years and their 10th in the last 14.

The star of the game was North Dakota State quarterback Cam Miller, who has been a key figure for the Bison over the past several years. On Monday night, he took center stage and made history with his performance.

Miller threw two passing touchdowns, ran for two more, completed 80% of his passes on 20-plus attempts, rushed for 100 yards, and even had a 60-plus yard touchdown run in the first half. No other FBS, FCS, or NFL player this century has accomplished all of those feats in a single game.

Miller is expected to be one of the more intriguing quarterbacks in the 2025 NFL Draft class. While he may not be a Day 1 or Day 2 selection, he is poised to follow in the footsteps of other North Dakota State quarterbacks like Trey Lance, Easton Stick, and Carson Wentz who have made the jump to the NFL.

This season, Miller posted impressive stats, including 3,251 passing yards, 33 passing touchdowns, just four interceptions, 631 rushing yards, and 12 rushing touchdowns. He has been with the Bison for five seasons and has been the full-time starter since 2021.

Over the course of his career, Miller threw for 9,720 passing yards, completing 69.3% of his passes, and maintaining an impressive 81-to-19 touchdown-to-interception ratio.

When factoring in his rushing yards and touchdowns, Miller amassed over 12,000 total yards and 129 total touchdowns, all while leading the Bison to two national championships.

A proven winner at the collegiate level, Miller has already drawn attention as a potential NFL prospect. However, despite his credentials, he’s currently projected to be selected anywhere between Rounds 4 and 7 in various mock drafts, with his stock likely to rise or fall depending on his pre-draft workouts, interviews, and performance at the NFL Combine.
