Reddit and X were down for tens of thousands of users in the U.S. on Thursday afternoon.
More than 30,000 users have reported problems accessing Reddit and more than 18,000 people have reported issues with X, according to the tracking website Downdetector.
The outages come weeks after X reported widespread outages that affected thousands of users. Its CEO, Elon Musk, blamed the outage on a widespread cyberattack.
“There was (still is) a massive cyberattack against X,” Musk said in a post at the time. “We get attacked every day, but this was done with a lot of resources. Either a large coordinated group and/or a country is involved. Tracing.”
Neither Reedit nor X immediately responded to USA TODAY’s request for comment on Thursday afternoon shortly after the outages were reported.
