Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant has been fined 75K by the NBA for multiple gun motions during a game against the Miami Heat on Thursday night, the league announced on Friday morning.
Morant was warned by the NBA after he received a technical foul during Tuesday’s game against the Golden State Warriors. After the league’s warning, Morant did the celebration three times against the Heat after making 3-pointers.
The league’s message to Morant was that his 3-point celebration could be viewed in a negative light. This comes after Morant’s documented history with suspensions and warnings from the league in recent years after issues relating to guns.
In March 2023, Morant was suspended indefinitely after appearing to brandish a gun in a Denver-area nightclub. He was later suspended 25 games for the start of the 2023-24 season after a second video surfaced in May of Morant brandishing a gun in an Instagram Live video.
