Jon Stewart Lauds Kamala Harris for Not Acting Like ‘Little B***h’ on Jan. 6

Monday marked the four-year anniversary of the January 6th Capitol riot, except this time the certification of the next president went smoothly. It’s a difference that Jon Stewart, in his first Monday night monologue of 2025 for The Daily Show, couldn’t help but note.

“It’s amazing how smoothly our democracy can work when you don’t act like a little b—h when you lose,” Stewart said.

Earlier in the monologue, Stewart admitted that as important as it may be for Democrats to peacefully concede the White House to Donald Trump, the ceremony was still a downer. “The ultimate indignity of this Jan. 6th is that Donald Trump’s opponent Kamala Harris, because she is the vice president, serves as the master of ceremonies,” Stewart explained.

The audience groaned in response to this news, and Stewart conceded that “it does suck.” He showed a clip of Harris certifying Trump’s Florida win, with Republicans in the chamber applauding. “That’s gotta sting,” Stewart said. “It’s like attending your own funeral and even the mourners are like, ‘Woohoo!’”

Referring to the recent snowstorm that hit D.C., Stewart also joked at the start of the segment, “It is January 6th, and as you can see, once again a blanket of angry white [is] descending on the Capitol!” He remarked that the storm was “oddly enough, not as disruptive. It did stop traffic, but a lot less bear spray and Confederate flags.”

Stewart then mused on how little media attention the January 6th vote certification used to get before 2021. “It is the day that, traditionally, we now pretend that we knew was a big deal in terms of certifying the elections,” he said. “Be honest: before that insurrection, you had no f—ing idea.”
