Justin Rose willed himself back into contention for a green jacket but came up short at the end in a sudden-death playoff.
Rose shot 6-under during the final round of the 2025 Masters from Augusta National Golf Club to climb up the leaderboard and back into contention in a tie with leader Rory McIlroy at 11-under. McIlroy was also at 11-under with three holes to go when Rose finished his play for the day, but following a bogey on the 18th hole, Rose and McIlroy headed for a playoff.
However, after Rose earned a par on the sudden-death playoff hole, Mcllroy birdied his shot to earn a career grand slam.
Rose, who finished as runner-up in 2015 and 2017 at The Masters, is seeking his first Masters victory. He began the day shooting 5-under following a slow day on Sunday, which saw him shoot 3-over par. He opened the tournament with a 65 and 7-under on Thursday and has worked himself back into contention after the hot start and slow day Saturday.
