Lenny Kravitz Rocks Out During ‘New Year’s Rockin’ Eve’ With a Classic Hits Medley That Has Me Ready To Conquer 2025

Rock legend Lenny Kravitz took to the stage in Times Square tonight, December 31, to help ring in the new year during Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve. He joined artists like Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Blake Shelton, Alanis Morisette, and Carrie Underwood as they performed their biggest hits for the gathered masses.

Kravitz performed a selection of his classic hits as well as songs from his recent album, Blue Electric Light, which was released in May 2024. The album featured Kravitz’s usual sound but focused on positive vibes and energy overall. It’s a great way to end the old year and head into the new one with positivity and electricity. His performance of “Are You Gonna Go My Way” was (as always) flawless, and has me ready to crush all my New Year’s resolutions.

Other performers during New Year’s Rockin’ Eve include country stars Megan Moroney, Cody Johnson, Ernest, Hardy, Dasha, and Thomas Rhett; pop stars Renee Rapp, Kesha, and the Jonas Brothers; and hip-hop legends T-Pain and TLC, as well as Tinashe and Teddy Swims. Ryan Seacrest hosts from Times Square with Rita Ora, while Rob Gronkowski hosts from Las Vegas and Jeannie Mai from Los Angeles.

During the MTV VMAs this year, Lenny Kravitz won the award for Best Rock Video for his song “Human.” On stage, he took a moment to remember his late mother, who passed away in 1995. Before her death, she attended the VMAs with her son, and Kravitz remembered that moment in his speech.

“This is incredible. I am so grateful,” he began. “Thirty-one years ago, my mother was with me at an award show, at the VMAs, so I dedicate this to her. I thank God for this journey, this incredible journey. I thank Jesus for life.”

Additionally, he remembered his mother, Roxie Roker, with a post on social media at the time prior to the award show. He posted a video of the two of them at the VMAs in 1993 and included a heartfelt caption. “Having my beautiful mother by my side at my first [VMAs] 31 years ago is a moment I will always cherish,” he wrote. “I’m looking forward to taking the stage all these years later where she will be in my heart.”
