The Mahoning County OVI Task Force will be conducting a sobriety checkpoint Satuday, March 15.

Specific details including the time and location of the checkpoint will be announced shortly before the checkpoint begins.

Saturation patrols are also planned to be conducted to ensure safe roadways in Mahoning County during the week and weekend preceding St. Patrick’s Day.

A 1990 Supreme Court ruling said holding sobriety checkpoints without first notifying drivers would violate the Constitution’s provision barring illegal search and seizure. 

The ruling did not spell out what was considered an adequate notification.
