The National Weather Service (NWS) in Fort Worth, TX, dropped a flash flood warning this Tuesday morning at exactly 9:09 a.m.
Why? Thunderstorms decided to overachieve, dumping up to 4 inches of rain with another 1 to 2 inches likely on the way.
Here’s the situation: Doppler radar showed heavy rainfall drenching areas like Weatherford, Mineral Wells, Azle, and more.
Flash flooding is either already happening or about to kick off in spots like creeks, streets, highways, and low-lying areas. Basically, if water’s got nowhere to go, it’s trouble.
The NWS didn’t hold back with their advice: “Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.”
