A fan who crashed Ohio State’s White House visit wearing a Michigan hat has been identified.
The fan, identified by Outkick as Mark Gull of Alexandria, Virginia, was the target of jokes from Vice President JD Vance during a celebration on the South Lawn on Monday.
“I don’t know who let the guy over in the corner here in a Michigan hat into this celebration but I’m about to tell the Secret Service you’ve got a dangerous weapon, sir,” Vance, an Ohio State graduate told the crowd of Buckeyes fans.
The joke was ultimately overlooked by the masses after Vance dropped the Buckeyes’ championship trophy, but Michigan fans online were quick to praise the fan for his efforts.
Gull told Outkick that maize and blue “was born into his blood” due to his dad, who was from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
“I had to wear my hat today even if I got beat up,” he said. “It was awesome. They (Ohio State) did a good job. Good for them. I feel good for the coach because he got a raw deal from the fans, so I thought I’d represent as a Michigan fan.”
Gull’s daughter, Sophia, is a 2020 Ohio State graduate with a degree in civil engineering, Outkick reported, and she has tried to convince her dad to give up his Michigan fandom with no success.
Ohio State won the first 12-team college football playoff, defeating Notre Dame in the national championship on Jan. 20.
Michigan has won four-straight games against Ohio State.
