Memphis Grizzlies rookie Jaylen Wells suffers broken wrist after scary fall vs Hornets

Memphis Grizzlies rookie Jaylen Wells suffered a broken right wrist after a scary fall against the Charlotte Hornets on Tuesday night, his agent Amen Dhesi confirmed to The Commercial Appeal.

Wells was injured in the second quarter at Spectrum Center Arena. After a two-handed dunk in transition, the Grizzlies rookie was undercut by Hornets guard KJ Simpson and fell hard to the floor. A stretcher and medical assistance was needed as Wells was taken to a nearby hospital in Charlotte, North Carolina.

His father, Fred Wells, told the Commercial Appeal his son was alert and talking while awaiting X-rays.

The Grizzlies finished off the Hornets with a 124-100 victory after Wells left the game.

The injury is a tough blow for Wells and the Grizzlies. He is the only Memphis player who has been active for all 79 games. Wells was averaging 10.5 points and shooting 35.5 % on 3-pointers entering Tuesday.
