Nashville welcomes 2025 with Big Bash

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Thousands gathered in Bicentennial Mall Tuesday night to welcome 2025.

There was much in the way of celebration Tuesday, including words of thanks from Nashville’s mayor Freddie O’Connell. O’Connell spoke before the main event: a free concert with headliners including Keith Urban and Jelly Roll.

Among those performing this year was Alana Springsteen, who mentioned how she had always envisioned performing on the Big Bash stage.

“I’ve lived in Nashville since I was 14 and just last year, I was sitting on my couch watching the whole thing on TV,” Springsteen said before performing. “[I was] kind of manifesting being here one day and I had no idea it would happen so quickly, but I’m just so excited.”

This was the first bash to have a Sober Space. The space space was meant for individuals in recovery, families and allies of those in recovery from addiction and alcoholism. News 2 spoke with Jennelle Wood of Cumberland Heights to talk about the importance of the new space.

“Just because you stop [and] put the drink down [and] put the drugs down doesn’t mean your life ends. It means your life begins,” Wood said. “It just shows a new way of life and how to enjoy these things.”
