Nicky Katt, the actor who appeared in films like Dazed and Confused, Boiler Room, and subUrbia, has died at the age of 54.
Katt’s attorney John Sloss confirmed the actor’s death to the Hollywood Reporter; no cause of death was provided.

The South Dakota-born Katt appeared frequently on the big screen in the Nineties and early 2000s, ofter playing tough guy or antagonistic roles. As a child actor, Katt appeared in Gremlins and The ‘Burbs before his breakout role as high school bully Clint Bruno in director Richard Linklater’s Seventies-set classic Dazed and Confused in 1993.
Katt also featured in films like The Doom Generation, Strange Days, Batman & Robin, A Time to Kill, and Boiler Room:
The actor reunited with Linklater for 1996’s subUrbia, 2001’s Waking Life, and 2003’s School of Rock, and also appeared in Steven Soderbergh films like The Limey, Full Frontal, and Behind the Candelabra and Christopher Nolan’s Insomnia and The Dark Knight. Katt also appeared in both halves of the Robert Rodriguez-Quentin Tarantino double feature Planet Terror/Death Proof.
On the small screen, Katt starred in the drama Boston Public for three seasons, popped up on series on Law & Order, Monk, and The Guardian, and notably guested on an episode of Friends where he played a bully who torments Ross and Chandler by taking over their coffee shop couch.
Katt’s last acting credit was an episode of the drama series Casual in 2018. In 2020, Katt reunited with his Dazed and Confused cast mates for a virtual table read.
