Nintendo just announced a host of new information about the Nintendo Switch 2 with an hour-long presentation that told us almost everything you’d ever want to know about the console.
We’ve collated all of the information about the launch of the Switch 2, including the Switch 2 release date, preorder date, price, and more.
Nintendo Switch 2 Release Date
The Nintendo Switch 2 will be released on June 5, 2025 in the US and most regions around the world, including Canada, Australia and New Zealand, Japan, the UK, and Europe.
Also on that date will be the release of Metroid Prime 4 on both the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, and the newly announced Mario Kart World, among many other games from first and third-party developers — including a new exclusive game from Dark Souls and Elden Ring developer FromSoftware.
Nintendo Switch 2 Price
The Nintendo Switch 2 will cost $449 USD for the console by itself and $499 for a bundle including Mario Kart World.

There will also be a new Pro Controller, which has not yet been priced but won’t be included in the bundle, and launch games are expected to cost $69, bringing Nintendo first-party titles up to the pricing standard set by Sony with the PS5 and Microsoft with the Xbox Series X|S.
Nintendo Switch 2 Preorder Date
Preorders for the Nintendo Switch 2 will be available next week, from Wednesday April 9, 2025. Preorders are expected to be available through multiple retailers, including Best Buy, GameStop, and Walmart, but will also be available on the My Nintendo Store.
For preorders on the My Nintendo Store, prospective buyers will need to get an invite from Nintendo to purchase, with priority given to those who have been subscribed to Nintendo Switch online for 12 months and have played at least 50 hours of gameplay on the Nintendo Switch.
Stock is expected to be extremely limited and run out quickly, so most stores will likely implement a hard limit of one per customer. Those who want the Switch 2 on launch day should preorder their console as early as possible to ensure they don’t miss out.
