Oregon State has two MLS SuperDraft first rounders for the first time in school history

Oregon State men’s soccer achieved a program first when Enzo Newman and Sergi Solans were selected during first round of Friday’s MLS SuperDraft.

Newman, a sophomore defender, was taken by FC Dallas with the 11th pick, while Solans, a redshirt freshman forward, went to Real Salt Lake with the 30th pick, the final selection of the first round.

This is the first time Oregon State has had two first-round picks in one draft. Newman is the fourth highest draft pick in program history. Danny Mwanga went No. 1 in 2004, Khiry Shelton was No. 2 in 2015, and Logan Farrington No. 3 in last year’s draft.

Dallas has selected a Beaver during the first round in back-to-back drafts, as Farrington went to the Toros in 2024.

During the third round, Oregon State midfielder Armas Farnos was selected by New York. Farnos was the 84th overall pick.

Oregon State has had a combined six players selected in the past two MLS SuperDrafts. Last year, Farrington and Turner Humphrey went to FC Dallas, and Javier Armas to Atlanta United. Newman and Solans increase Oregon State’s program total to seven first-round MLS draft picks.

Newman, who grew up in California, has been a mainstay for the Beavers the past two seasons. He started every match this season and earned second-team WCC honors. Last year Newman started nine matches, five coming during Oregon State’s College Cup run.

Solans scored 14 goals this season, fifth best in OSU history. Solans’ 14 goals ranked seventh nationallyi. He was the WCC offensive player of the year and earned United Soccer Coaches all-region honors.

Farnos was the WCC’s midfielder of the year this past season.
