◆レスリング◇全日本選手権 第３日（２１日、東京・代々木第二体育館） 男子フリースタイル７４キロ級で高田熙（自衛隊）が初優勝を飾った。決勝は５―３で小柴伊織（日体大）を振り切り、「本当は大学の時に取りたかったけど、すごい長引いちゃって。やっと。本当にうれしい気持ち」と喜びを爆発させた。 全日本選手権は日体大柏高３年時の２０１９年に２位に入り、注目を集めた。だが、日体大進学後は膝のけがなどに悩まされ、苦しんだ。「高校生で決勝まで行って『すごいな』と周りから言われたけど、大学に入ってから全然勝てなくて。逆に同期や周りの人が先に全日本を取って、すごい出遅れている感じがあった」と振り返る。 今春から進んだ自衛隊では、同じ階級で先輩の高谷大地がパリ五輪で銀メダルを獲得した。「試合前の取り組みや私生活の面を間近で見てきて、すごく刺激になった。見習っていけば、世界のトップに近付くんじゃないかと思った」と明かす。自身の目標は２８年ロサンゼルス五輪。「７４キロ級もどんどんレベルが上がってくると思う。そういった中でも最後勝ち抜けるように、どんな相手が来ても勝てるような状態にしたい」と闘志を燃やした。
