In myth, unicorns are beautiful, majestic creatures — pure, right, and true — but in the new A24 film, a unicorn will come for your life if you cross it.
And cross one Paul Rudd and Jenna Ortega do in the trailer for Death of a Unicorn.
According to the film’s logline, father-daughter duo Elliot (Rudd) and Riley (Ortega) accidentally hit and kill a unicorn while en route to a weekend retreat hosted by Elliot’s billionaire boss Dell Leopold (Richard E. Grant), his wife (Téa Leoni), and son (Will Poulter). Anthony Carrigan and Sunita Mani round out the rest of the cast.
It seems the horn of a unicorn can cure cancer, which automatically means that Elliot’s boss, who is a mega-wealthy pharmaceutical CEO, will definitely exploit the hell out of it. But this little unicorn apparently has family, as there’s one on a rampage and it is murderous and terrifying.
“Dad, please just listen to me: We need to give the little one back,” Riley pleads in the trailer. “Bad things will happen.”
