We remember the moment Taylor Swift first started donning her signature red lip like it was yesterday. That single shade became part of a look that carried her through a lengthy period of award shows and appearances — usually accompanied by a flawlessly executed cat eye and clean, glowing skin. For awhile, it seemed that Taylor and her power pout were inseparable. They went everywhere together, did everything together, and complemented each other in every way. Then came her style switch-ups, and it seemed she had retired the red lip for awhile in favor of fresh nudes and rich purples.

Lately, though, it appears that the singer has been recreating some of her most iconic beauty moments. After witnessing the return of the ringlets, we wondered which other throwback trends she’d test out in 2016. It appears that red lipstick is the winner. Last night, she was spotted in a tomato-tinted pout that brought us back to another time. Her bob was sleek and straightened, but that lipstick was straight out of the past. Look closely, and you’ll even see that she paired it with some kitten flicks. We’ve loved watching Taylor’s makeup evolve over time, but it turns out nothing can beat “that red lip, classic thing that you like.”
