Wall Street’s ‘whisper’ number on deliveries was well below FactSet’s consensus, and Tesla still missed it by a wide margin

Shares of Tesla Inc. were headed sharply lower in early trading Wednesday, after the electric-vehicle giant reported first-quarter deliveries that were even worse than Wall Street feared.
Tesla indicated that one reason for the weak performance was that the changeover to refreshed Model Y production lines led to several weeks of lost production. The company tried to add some optimism by saying the ramp of the new Model Y “continues to go well.”
