The Kai Cenat and xQc drama explained

After the Canadian streamer’s controversial comments, Kai Cenat fires back at Félix “xQc” Lengyel.

Twitch is no stranger to drama, especially in 2024. From the platform itself coming under fire for alleged bigotry at the highest levels to controversial bans, the streaming world can’t seem to catch a break. Through all the drama, 2024 remained a milestone year for content creators.

During Mafiathon 2, Kai reclaimed his throne as the most subbed Twitch streamer. With over 728,000 subscribers, Kai had twice as many subscribers as the second most popular Twitch channel. Despite these accolades, it didn’t shield Kai from criticism, which xQc did not shy away from giving.

The top Twitch streamer responded furiously to some of xQc’s comments.

Why is Kai Cenat angry at xQc?

Kai Cenat raged at xQc after the latter alleged Kai“cried” for subs and relied too much on celebrity cameos.

During a Fortnite stream, xQc joked about Kai Cenat begging for subs. When someone said “Drop a hundred gifts if you want me to be happy, guys” jokingly, xQc said “The Kai Cenat strat, wow, really, dude?” He then doubles down on the bit after being asked when Kai ever begged for subs. “When does he not?” said the Canadian streamer.

Audiences debated over how serious these statements were. Fans of xQc claim it was just the streamer making an innocent joke. Fans of Kai claim these were targeted, and that xQc had made many similar comments about Kai’s content in the past. Regardless of fan sentiment, Kai Cenat made it clear he was not happy about the comments. During a Just Chatting stream, Kai Cenat called out xQc for his insults in an impassioned rant.

Although the top Twitch streamer did admit his celebrity cameo clips went the most viral, he was more angry about the “crying for subs” comments. He brought up xQc’s hypocrisy, pointing out the latter’s support of his content in the past. In Kai Cenat’s infamous Elden Ring stream, xQc regularly donated to the top streamer after each beaten boss.

As of this writing, xQc has not responded to Kai Cenat’s statements.

Fans are split over the Kai Cenat-xQc drama

Online audiences are split on who is in the right. Given the subjective quality of streaming preferences, it was inevitable for fans to clash with their favorites. Critics of Kai claim that xQc’s comments were true and that a subathon is “literally begging for subs.”

On the other side, critics of xQc said he shouldn’t call others repetitive when his streams are typically just gambling and TikTok reactions. They also pointed out how, unlike xQc, Kai delivers on the content variety he promises. Those who dislike both streamers said it was just one millionaire fighting another millionaire over petty squabbles.

Whatever side viewers take, the feud is starting to gain traction online. Although streamer feuds are not uncommon, Kai Cenat and xQc are among the most popular creators on the platform. Whoever comes out on top, viewers are sure to keep an eye on them.
